Innova-Sonic® Model 206 In-line Digital Correlation Transit-Time Ultrasonic Flowmeter

An Innovative Advance in Transit-Time Technology

Literally an order-of-magnitude improvement in transit-time ultrasonic flow measurement compared to other transit-time ultrasonic instruments in use today, Sierra’s
PicoFly™ Technology is an industry first. PicoFly™ allows ultrasonic transit time-of-flight to be measured in picoseconds 10 -12 (one trillionth of a second) rather than the typical nanoseconds 10 -9 (one billionth of a second). The result is superior response to changes in flow and excellent resolution that enables extreme low flow detection.

The chart below shows how our Innova-Sonic® In-Line compared to a typical industrial Magnetic Flow Meter.

Magnetic Flow Meters

Innova-Sonic In-Line Flow Meter

Accuracy

+/- 0.5% to +/- 1.0% of reading.

+/- 0.5% of reading.

Turndown

Down to approx. 0.1 fps.

Measure down to ZERO flow due to patented PicoFly™ Technology. (No loss of accuracy)

Applicability

Conductive Liquids Only. Cannot measure hydrocarbons, distilled water or many non-aqueous solutions.

Any clean liquid. Can tolerate small amounts of suspended solids and air bubbles.

Economy

Medium cost. Coriolis much higher cost, Turbine meters lower cost.

Lower cost…typically 15% to 20% less than common magnetic flow meters.
Price comparable to high-end turbine meters, yet with higher accuracy and less maintenance (no moving parts).

The Innova-Sonic® In-Line features an accuracy of better than +/- 0.5% of reading, repeatability of +/-0.07%, a wide operating temperature range of -40 F to +176 F (-40C to 80C) and bi-directional flow range of 0 to 23 fps (0 to 7 mps). Innova-Sonic® In-Line is an ideal choice for any clean liquid application found in general industry. The meter is also tolerant of liquids with small amounts of air bubbles or suspended solids commonly found in most industrial flow processes.

The in-line spool piece design features a powder-coated carbon steel flanged flow body with remote-mounted electronics. The instrument is available in pipe sizes from 2.5" to 10” (65mm to 250mm) with both ANSI 150 lb and DN PN 10 flanges and is rated for pressures to 150 psia. The wetted in-line transducers allow for very high signal strength and are fully corrosion resistant (IP68 rating).

Outputs include programmable pulse, 0 to 20mA and 4 to 20mA DC and a programmable relay. Input power is 12-36 VDC or 85-265 VAC, 7 watts maximum. The Innova-Sonic® In-line is extremely easy to program via a 16 key 4x4 touchpad and easily readable 20 character by 2 line backlit display. The clear, user-friendly menu-driven selections make the flowmeter simple and convenient to use and include full diagnostic capability to help in troubleshooting and setup.

Our Innova-Sonic® In-Line is designed using SLSI (Super Large Scale Integration) technology allowing ten times the component population compared to the typical integrated circuit. The patented and corrosion-resistant transducers, when coupled with Sierra's PicoFly™ technology and advanced digital signal processing (DSP), allow for unparalleled performance and excellent turndown.
